Ultrasound for Pregnancy (written for GE Ultrasound)

Ultrasound has many utilizations and applications in various fields of medicine. Nowhere is it more frequent than in pregnancy. Ultrasound is used to view the baby and confirm the initial positive result of a pregnancy test. In pregnancy, the ultrasound is also used to hear the baby's heartbeat, check the growth of the baby, see if there are multiple fetuses, check for defects and determine if there are challenges that could complicate the delivery.

It is believed to be safe for both the baby and the mother. There may be some discomfort because a full bladder may be required by some health care providers in order to see the reproductive organs better, but that's all.
